Why MIS

I did not pick Management Information Systems out of a childhood dream. Toward the end of senior high I was genuinely directionless. I knew I liked technology, but "likes technology" describes half the planet.
Two things narrowed it down.
The first was an immersion in Sapang Palay, which I've written about on the About page: three days with a foster family whose decade-old phone could barely hold a signal, and a question from Nanay Elsa I could not do anything about. Whatever I ended up studying, I wanted it pointed at that gap.
The second was smaller and dumber. I bought a laptop that could not do what the listing promised, got annoyed enough to learn hardware properly, and discovered that the part I actually enjoyed was not the specs. It was the fit: what someone needs, what they can spend, and what the machine really does, all agreeing with each other.
Put those together and the pattern was never pure engineering. When I went canvassing degree programs, I was looking for the business-and-technology path, and MIS is the degree where the technology is only half the grade. The other half is whether it serves the operation, the budget, and the person who has to use it on a Tuesday.
Four years, one internship, and one capstone later, that is still the cleanest way I can put it. The headline on this site's homepage is the same idea with fewer words.
